Faith not Works

Faith not Works

eternal life 1

I wrote this article a while back, and decided it needed to be tweaked, and cleaned up some.It is
about salvation by faith, and not works.there are many, who believe that they must do some type of work in order to be saved. The Bible teaches salvation by faith, believing and calling on the name of Jesus. We are saved by what Jesus did on the cross.

Here are a few verses on faith or belief that salvation comes by faith
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
Rom. 3:22, “even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who
believe; for there is no distinction.”
Rom. 3:24, “being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in ChristJesus;”
Rom. 3:26, “for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”
Rom. 3:28-30, “For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, sinceindeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one.”
Rom. 4:3,For what does the Scripture say? “And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.”
Rom. 4:5, “But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, hisfaith is reckoned as righteousness,”
Rom. 4:11, “And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faithwhich he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also,”
Rom. 4:16, “Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise mightbe sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faithof Abraham, who is the father of us all.”
Rom. 5:1, “therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Rom. 5:9, “Much more than, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.”
Rom. 9:30, “What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith.”
Rom. 9:33, “just as it is written, “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed.”
Rom. 10:4, “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”
Rom. 10:9-10, “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; 10 for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
Rom. 11:6, “But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no
longer grace.”
Gal. 2:16, “nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified.”
Gal. 2:21, “I do not nullify the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”
Gal.3:5-6, “Does He then, who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.”
Gal. 3:8, “And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “All the nations shall be blessed in you.”
Gal. 3:14, “in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
Gal. 3:22, “But the Scripture has shut up all men under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.”
Gal. 3:24, “Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith.”
Eph. 1:13, “In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise.”
Eph. 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
Phil. 3:9, “and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.”
1 Tim. 1:16, “And yet for this reason I found mercy, in order that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience, as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.”
These scriptures show that salvation comes from believing faith and not of works of man.

It isn’t what We do,it’s what Jesus did.

Running from God :the Jonah complex:

Running from God

the Jonah complex:

CampbellJonahandthewhale147

Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go
to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before
me.(Jonah 1:1-2)
Jonah was given a specific task from God That He should go to Nineveh, and preach
repentance, because of their wicked ways. The Bible doesn’t say why Jonah was running from God,only that He was running.
He disobeyed Gods command and went to Joppa,to find a ship going to
Tarshish:So he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto
Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.(Jonah 1:3)
Has gods spirit spoken to You ?Maybe He has challenged You to do a specific job
for Him.This is what God wanted Jonah to do.Just to preach to the folks at
Nineveh,to cause them to repent of their evil.
Maybe the job isn’t preaching,it may be praying for someone,or telling someone
about His son Jesus. What ever it is ,We can learn a lot from Jonah’s disobedience.
But the Lord sent out a great wind into t sea, and there was a mighty tempest in
the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. Then the mariners were afraid, and
cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the
sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and
he lay, and was fast asleep. So the Captain of the ship, came to him, and said unto
him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will
think upon us, that we perish not.And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me
forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake
this great tempest is upon you. So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the
sea:
The sailors were afraid they would die,and didn’t know what to do.Then Jonah told
them it was because of Him,and told them to throw Him into the sea.

Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the
belly of the fish three days and three nights .Jonah 1:17
Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly, And said, I cried
by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell
cried I, and thou heard my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the
midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves
passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again
toward thy holy temple.Jonah 2:1-4 Jonah finally repented after disobeying the
Lord, and the fish put him on dry land. All this happened to Jonah because He refused to heed the word of God.
The Lord told Him a second time to go to Nineveh and Jonah went.God is the god
of second chances.Jonah was given a second chance and He took advantage of
it,fearing the Lord.
Jonah preached to the people of Nineveh and they repented of their evil.God saw
their works and spared the great city of Nineveh. These peoples lives depended on Jonah preaching the word.Just think of the consequences if Jonah had not listened to God.
If god has a work for You to do, know this,he will equip You with everything You need,no matter the job.Don’t run from God,but run to God.Someones life may be changed because You shared the gospel.Break free from the Jonah complex.

What is Amazing Grace:

What is Amazing Grace ?

Do You believe in the amazing grace of God ?

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.Ephesians 2:8-10

Grace is unearned love from God the Father. His love cannot be earned, bought, sold,or traded. The Father saw mankind could not keep his law,so He gave us a sacrifice that would cover our sins forever. It is not a temporal grace but an everlasting grace. That perfect everlasting sacrifice was His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Jesus died on the cross at Golgotha,He gave his blood ,to be the sacrifice, that We did not deserve, but His love was greater than any man.He saw a need
But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldst not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldst not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:3-10
Under the law, priest would offer sacrifices for the sins of the people, sometimes offering the sacrifice for the same sins, and it occurred every year.V.11
Only the perfect sacrifice,Jesus could take away sin forever. It took his blood.
But this man,Jesus, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool Heb 10:12-13. by Sammy Smith

There is saving grace by the blood of Christ.
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,

Desperation:

imagesCAXK17SZ
Mark 2: 1-13 8-8-12

Jesus had been on the road preaching for about a year and comes home to Peters house for some rest,
But a few friends were carrying a sick man on a stretcher. They wanted Jesus to heal him. They were desperate.

Some times the positive power of desperation, as hard as it is to accept ,is the best thing that can happen to us.
When we have gone as far as we can go and done all that we can do, like this mans friends, it time for plan b
The great part of that is, When you come to an end of yourself you find the Lord.
If you plan on doing anything for God you might as well get ready for the storm. During the storm, the test will come.
Anyone can serve God when the sun is shining, and there are no big problems to over come like cancer or some thing.
But it takes men and women of faith, courage, and commitment to stay the course when thing begin to fall apart
Desperation tests our level of commitment.
Problems helps us to see what is really important and what is not.
God does not allow problems so that we are defeated, but so that we become stronger in faith.
When we are desperate it will make us leave all the things behind that are not connected to the spirit of God.
Desperation can bring out our best and our worst.A lot of times the storms of life can bring us to the place of desperation.
Not only did this man get saved and healed but imagine the effect it had on his friends and those who witnessed the event.
Some folks never come to Jesus until they are at the end of their rope.
Some times if it were not for certain situation in our life we would miss the fresh revelation that only comes from God.
These men and their friend were exhausted, worn out, and without divine assistance the man was going to die.
It’s amazing how far we have to go sometimes to run into grace.
If we let fear keep us from receiving the blessings that God has in store for us our faith will never grow.
We must stop worrying about the unknown or what others think or say and get away from tradition thinking there is no hope.
Desperation can help us overcome all that and bring a positive force in preparing us for this awesome revelation & manifestation of the power of God.
Some of you may have sensed a growing desperation in your spirit, You don’t known which way to turn, nothing seems to be working anymore, your exhausted.
I believe your on the verge of a fresh revelation that is going to bring you into a deeper relationship with God than you have ever known before, and in turn there is going to be a greater manifestation of the power of God in your life.
Nobody likes to feel weak, or unsuccessful or like they don’t know what they’re doing 0END.0.
But sometimes we have to reach that place before our ears open to really hear what God is saying and our eyes are open to see how to do it Gods way.
Like the woman with the Issue of blood for 12 years, It wasn’t until she had spent all her money and exhausted every avenue at her disposal that she came to Jesus.
If she had more money, or another doctor to turn to she may never have come to Jesus.
We could go on and on. It was desperation that caused Jairus to risk his reputation as a leader of the religious community by coming to Jesus because his daughter was dying.
It was desperation that caused blind Bartimaeus to cry for mercy in spite of the persecution of those around him.
It was desperation that brought the widow woman to the prophet, Her husband had died and left her in debt, and her creditors were coming to make slaves of her two sons.
Her desperation created an avenue for a miracle of divine supernatural multiplication and provision, as she poured from her pot of oil into many borrowed vessels.
To all those who have struggled with the feelings of desperation, as though you’ve done all you know how to do, you have prayed, fasted, you have confessed and it seems like nothing has changed.
I’ve come to tell you get ready, because on the other side of your desperation is a miracle, is a greater revelation of Jesus than you have ever known.
There’s a new anointing growing inside you.
There’s a special gift–A new vision–A new level.
Something is getting ready to take place and desperation is that last stage before manifestation, it is here that you either break through or break down.
It is at this point that the devil will try to convince you that it’s not worth it.
That God has changed his mind, or that you misunderstood God.
Or that you just dreamed your own dream.
I’ve come to tell you that delay is not denial and desperation is a positive power when it causes you to throw yourself completely on God.
I have come to tell you that God is always on time.
It may seem like it will never happen but if God said it,It will come to pass.
You may have to pass through the storm on the way, and you may have to fight some giants, and you may reach a place called desperation.
Everyone who has experienced the glory of God has had to come to this place.
Desperation is the breeding ground for miracles.
Before we can clam the promises of God we must step on faith and receive our inheritance.
We can live in the promise land no matter how many gaits we face. All we must do is come to Jesus who can meet all our needs according to His riches in glory. Amen
When we are faithful and trust the Lord it brings glory to our Father in heaven.
We need to let the world see our belief our vision and watch the manifestation of the Holy Spirit go to work on behalf of our Lord and Saviour Jesus amen!!!

Let everyone praise the Lord

Let everyone praise the Lord

Text:Psalms 150
Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his
power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent
greatness.Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and
harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and
organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high-sounding
cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
Psalms 150:1-6
God wants and deserves praise from His Children. That is really why We were created.
Ps 102:18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people who shall be created shall praise the LORD.
Isa 43:7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Isa 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
It is not difficult to praise and worship the Lord when we are in His fellowship. It comes easy to the devout. There is nothing wrong raising hands in praise. There is nothing wrong in speaking his name when we praise him.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh, which. John 4:23-25
True worshippers, will praise God even when through bad times,as well as the good.
I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless this thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise this thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. Psalms 145:1-3
All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee. 11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power.Psalms 145:10-11
My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.Psalms :145:21
Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant;
Psalms: 147:1
Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. Psalms 149:1
Just a few verses to show how important to the Father. He waits for His creation to worship Him.

Let us praise Him,and not be critical of those who choose to or not to worship him with musical instruments,or without.Let’s spend our time worshiping God, and less time worrying about others style of worship. As long as it is decent and orderly.
Again let everything that have breath praise the Lord.

So,What’s in a Name ?

So,What’s in a Name ?

imagesCAGT2KPM
A name can carry a reputation. It can be either a good one or a bad one.We associate
people by name.Have You ever heard someone say “He is a good man”,or “She is a great lady ?”
A person with a good name can be held to great responsibility.

When We hear the name of Jesus,We associate him as a great man of God,the Son of
God.There is hope in the name of Jesus
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given
among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12

Salvation cannot be found in good works, baptism,or church membership.
We are told if We call on His name,We will receive salvation.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart
man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is
rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord
shall be saved.Romans 10:9-13
There is so much power in the name of Jesus.
There is saving power in the name of Jesus. There is healing in the name of Jesus. There
is forgiveness in His name. Most of all there is life in His name.
Jesus saith unto Thomas, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the
Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and
from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.John 14:6-7
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.John 3:15
He not only saves us,but He gives us eternal life.I love that word eternal,it means after
I die, I will live on with Jesus.

Humility

Humility

eternal life 1

 Text:Psalms 131:1-3

Humility, there are times we are not pleased with the way our life is going. But contentment grows out of humility and trust in God.

Pride results from over valuing ourselves and under valuing others.

Pride leads to stress because it makes us dissatisfied with what we have and concerned about what everyone else is doing.Pride makes us hunger for more attention . But humility ,puts others first and allows us to be content with what God is doing in our lives.

In return that gives us security so that we no longer have to prove ourselves to others.
We must let humility and trust, affect our perspective and give us the strength and
freedom to serve God and others contentment is the one thing we all want.
We want to be satisfied and complete. But when we look in the mirror that is not what We see.We are so focused on what the world has to offer that we have forgotten how to enjoy the necessities that our Lord provides.

David said my heart is not proud. He spoke those words in prayer. He wrote them
down for his own edification and guidance in the conduct of his affairs.
Only a truly humble man could write, “Lord, my heart is not proud.” That is either the
true or an astonishing exhibition of self-deception.
Humility is a very difficult plant to grow in the soul’s garden of grace.
True humility does not consist in pretending we don’t have gifts and abilities we know
we have and everyone else knows we have.
True humility is having the ability to do the greatest thing in the world—but to be just
as happy if someone else were to have that ability.
We move toward maturity when we honestly accept who we are, understand what we
can do, accept both and live for God’s glory.

How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face
from me?Psalms 13:1

Rejecting ourselves, and envying others are marks of
immaturity.

David had seen some of this kind of behavior in his own son Absalom as well as in
King Saul.
A proud heart refuses to face reality, trying to be some body you’re not will lead to
embarrassment and failure!!
When we accept our self and thank God for the way He made us, we don’t need to
impress any one.
They will see our worth and love us for who we really are.
David did not promote himself; it was all God’s doing.
The world says get ahead what ever it takes. But David avoided all that by having a
humble heart with a humble spirit and by staying away from gossip
It’s better to mind our own business and let other people get own with theirs.

We can avoid making mistake by comparing the short-term satisfaction with its long
range consequences before we act.
V-2.How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how
long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?Psalms 13:2

There are many lessons in the school of life: growing up involves painful losses that
can lead to wonderful gains.
The weaning of a child marks a stage in its growth. It marks its first venture into
independence.
Maturing people know that life is a series of gains and losses, and they learn how to
use their losses constructively.
God’s goal for us is emotional and spiritual maturity and sometimes God has to wean
us away from good things in order to give us better things

Abraham had to leave his family and city, send Ishmael away, separate from Lot and put
Isaac on the altar. Painful weaning!

Joseph had to be separated from his father and his brothers in order to see his dreams
come true.

Both Jacob and Peter had to be weaned from their own self-sufficiency and learn that
faith means living without scheming.

The child that David described wept and wept but eventually calmed down and
accepted the inevitable.
Infants do not realize that their mother’s decision is for their own good, because
weaning sets them free to meet the future and make the most of it.
The child may want to keep things as they are, but that causes immaturity and tragedy.
When we fret over a comfortable past, we only forfeit a challenging future.
In the Christian vocabulary, hope is not “hope so.”
It is joyful anticipation of what the Lord will do in the future, based on His changeless
promises.

Like the child being weaned, we may fret at our present circumstances, but we know
that our fretting is wrong.
Our present circumstances are the hope out of which new blessings and opportunities
will come.
Successful living means moving from dependence to independence, and then to
interdependence, always in the will of God.
To accept God’s will in the losses and gains of life; is to experience that inner calm that
is necessary if we are to be mature people.
V-3 David turns now from himself to his nation, the nation over which one day he was
to be king.

Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of
death;Psalms 13:3

The holy anointing oil had already been poured on David’s head by Samuel out on the
farm.
While David was serving Saul, David knew that he was to be the king.
David also had enough sense to keep that to himself. It was not up to him to get rid of
Saul. That was up to God. His job was to hope in the Lord.
Hope causes us to have: an expectation for the exciting and eternal. Causes a desire for
deliverance and a dream for the desired.Hope is aspirations for our aims and
anticipation for an arrival. Hope is a longing for life and for love.
Hope is a wish for the wonderful and security in the statements of others.
Hope gives us a reliance in the reliable and faith in the faithful.
We are creatures of hope and need hope to live, lest we lose the desire to live and just
give up

The Bible repeatedly urges us to look into the future during our times of darkness.
The gospel message is that everything is going to be okay, and there is much happiness
awaiting us just around the corner.
Pride undermines our faith. Pride can cut us off from God and others. Our hope is
based on God’s faithfulness.
God wants us to make the most out of our difficult circumstances.
If we will turn to God, and earnestly seek Him with our whole heart . We can have the
same attitude that David Had from this time forth and forever.
God’s Word provides us with information about Heaven, our home, happiness, and
Hell, that is prepared for Satan and his followers.

The world sees a hopeless end, but the Christian rejoices in an endless hope. amen

by Sammy Smith

Go ye therefore

Go ye therefore:

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.Matt 28:16-20

I believe every Christian has a duty to share the Gospel of Christ.

Just as He commanded the Disciples to do in Matthew 28.I believe when We do not share the gospel,We are letting Christ down.
You may ask, what can I do?I’m just one person. How many people do We come in contact in a day?How many of those have not heard the real gospel message? If We can share the gospel to at least one person,We may have saved them from spending eternity in hell.

We ,who are born again Disciples of Christ, also have that responsibility. If God opens the door for Us to witness, only good can come from it.
If one christian truly wins one lost soul to Christ, imagine how many that will be added to the Church.
Soul winning can be habit-forming.When We lead one soul to the salvation that is in Christ,We want to win another. That’s one good habit that We can continue  do.This is just one good work that We read in the Bible.

Romans 10:9-13King James Version

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Where would the Church be today if the Disciples had quit, after Christ died ? by Sammy Smith

In over our heads

In over our heads

Text: Ex: 3;1-12 & 4:10-17 It is Jesus who calls us to do things He wants done!

We should look at it as such a great privilege for God to stoop down & offer us the honor of serving Him.
This should excite us. It should stir us to seek God’s call, to seek God’s hand upon our lives. Some times Gods call comes in the middle of our life.
Moses had spent 40 years serving Jethro the prince of Midian. Which Moses writes nothing about.God’s call does not come to a particular profession. It comes to a particular heart, to a heart that is willing to tackle a big task.
God told Moses that the Israelites would be set free. Moses thought how great. That’s wonderful God-Go get them God. But God told Moses he would be the one who goes and gets them, but what was the first thing Moses said?

Most of the time when God calls us we start making excuses.Today the excuse seems like: well every one else does it so it must be okay.
Romans 12:1-2 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
One of the big lies the Devil tells us is that no one will know!!! Sin has a way of reaching others. It will be found out sooner or later. Sure you might get by with it for a while. But the devil will tell on you if need be!!!
Another excuse I hear a lot is: God has failed me. Why should I care about what the Lord thinks? He has not come through for me. Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
When we look at Daniel’s life instead of compromising what he believed, he graciously appealed to those who were in authority over him.
He did not make rash and harsh statements to them. Instead, Daniel wisely provided an alternative plan for the consideration of his master. He demonstrated his loyalty to the Lord by not surrendering his values. He did not give up and say, “Oh, what’s the use!”He tried to wisely change his circumstances by appealing to those in authority. This young man tried to offer a better plan for his boss that would benefit both him and his master.
As he tried to do his best to put the Lord first, God took care of Daniel. The Lord will do this for us too. That is His promise to us. Put the Lord first in your life!
What was the words God gave to Moses in verse 12 ,I WILL BE WITH YOU.
When God call we feel unqualified & unable of doing the task. Remember what Paul said: I can do all thing through Christ who strengthen me!!!
Most of the time we think in our minds that we are just simple people who can’t make a difference. No person is qualified to serve God.
No person is capable, adequate, sufficient—not in our own strength, not to serve God. When God calls us, we often since our inadequacy and our insufficiency.
We often feel incapable, as though we do not have what it takes, as though there is no way we can undertake the task God has called us to do. But God is faithful to us just as He was faithful to Moses. God makes the very same promises to us:
I will be with you. He will give us whatever inner strength and ability is needed.
And He will lead, guide, and work things out for us.
Listen when God is in it. When He promises to be with us & be sign for us, we must trust God that nothing is impossible for Him.When it comes down to the assignment most folks back out and don’t serve God. They want to tell you how to do it or tell God what to do.
In Chapter 4 and verse 13 Moses says Send the message by whom ever you please.
We can make up a million reason why we can’t serve God like we should. Why we can’t come to church on wed night or why we can’t come to Sunday School. Or why we can’t do this or that!!! I am not smart or I get nervous and I can’t seem to put what I think into words.
What is God’s reply to the person who argues this excuse? I will teach you what you are to do. V-15.
Some times it is not so bad to get in over our heads. That when we have to totally depend on God. We should not look at our inability as a weakness.
For when we are weak He is strong. Moses was telling God all the reason why He should pick some one else.
But God knows who we are, He made us.Acts 7:22 “Moses was educated in all the learning of the Egyptians, and he was a man of power in words and deeds.
God always provides all the recourses we need. Just like Moses we will do any thing to get out of the assignment. Moses though it was necessary to be great with words. Listen all God needs is some one with a big heart.
God was not looking for diction, but dedication and obedience. Not some fancy speaker, but some one who loved & would follow God.
All Jesus wants from us: is to be available. To give our heart and life to Him.Yet how many say—not me. I did it my way-Frank Sinatra
It’s powerful to be able to say I can do what I want. But when we become self-centered we walk away from God.
We kill the manifestation of God in our life. We quench the Power of the Holy Spirit when we say NO.
When we say NO to God we will be in over our head with no way of getting out. Life is too short to be on our on.

God is on the move. We can’t stand still & follow God at the same time.
