The Lords House
In the Lords House.David is describing those who can abide in God’s presence & enjoy His fellowship or who can be a guest in Lords house.
This chapter stresses the importance of integrity & character; we need these things if we are going to have a close fellowship with God.
Integrity means that we are honest—complete & have a sound mind and not be corrupt.
Our character is distinctive quality from God which determines our conduct.
This Psalm gives a blue print of a lifestyle that pleases God & what upsets Him.
It shows the faith that saves is the same kind of faith that results in a life that is lived for God!!!So what pleases God? How can we have a close walk with Him?
Verse one describes an approach to God’s presence in which we might feel at home with God & bring pleasure to the Lord.
V- 2-5 David records the answer to the opening question found in verse one.
David focuses on 3 key areas of a person life that brings pleasure to God. He lists the behavior’s that is a blessing but also a burden.
Three basic areas of life are named in verse 2—blameless character, righteous conduct, and truthful conversation.
If we are right in these basic virtues, we will “work them out” in every area of life and be obedient to the Lord.
What we are largely determines what we do and say,
V-2 He who walks. Our walk is what we do in this life. It’s our lifestyle.
Our walk affects our words & work. Our lifestyle and how we live is important to the Lord. As Christians, we represent Him.
The Bible says a lot about our walk.
We Walk with Confidence & Conviction in the Lord—
2 Corinthians 5:7—(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
We Walk right by allowing the Holy Spirit to control us.
Ephesians 5:17—Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is
We are to Walk with Compassion & love—
John 13:35,By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another
The one thing that God wants is obedience. He wants believers to live for Christ, to live exactly what they profess.
It’s not the talk that matters but the walk that matters.
God wants us to follow Christ very closely, and He wants us to bear whatever suffering comes our way, yet still following Him.
Lets look at– The Work of the Godly Person The
righteousness within our heart is evident on the outside of our life.
We try to live a holy life with Gods help. And of course we all fail some times. But Gods main concern is what’s in our heart. & how we apply it.
Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling
Work out– mean to bring to completion. It means to finish what God started
Working out our salvation deals with the practical application of everyday living of Bible truths.
We are to keep on keeping on — until the work is completed. God is concerned with the fruit we bear!!
We need to check the condition of our heart toward God.
We can be very active in our work for God and still not give the wholehearted obedience he desires.
Now lets look at the word speaks in v-2 !!
The person that pleases God does not go around talking about their neighbor. We are not to be gossiping about others.
If you have something to say about someone else, then let your words be positive, praiseworthy, productive, encouraging words.
Build people up don’t tare them down.
People who love God enjoy being with people who love God. If you don’t love to be around other Christians, then you got a problem.
Although our sins deserve judgment, God has chosen to show love & mercy to all who obey him .David continues to describe the words of those who please God. They are a person of
integrity & truth, even when it hurts himself.
Their integrity guides them. Their decisions are based upon what is right. It is better to
be poor and have integrity than to be rich & be a fool.
—V:5 Those who please the Lord shall never be moved. They will be a guest of
the Lord in His House.
This isn’t talking about church, it’s talking about a spiritual house that we can go to any time we need Gods help & grace.
So we will not be shaken by adversity or temptation.
Because of the righteousness of Jesus, we can come into the presence of the Lord and be a guest at His table any time.
We can have fellowship with God.
Hebrews 4:16—Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Jesus gives us stability in our lives and can help us to not be moved.
Acts 20:24—But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God .
We have a gracious & merciful God we have! When we face difficulty in our life, we can ask God for help. But also we must be ready to make changes in our attitude & behavior that will allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.
Grace is God’s voluntary and loving favor given to those he saves. We can’t earn salvation, nor do we deserve it.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
What really matters is on the inside, in the heart of a person.
Righteousness in the heart will produce the fruit of right actions.
If we want to please God, we must walk with integrity & produce the fruits of righteousness and speak the truth.
