Hebrews 6:

A study of Hebrews 6

In this study I will refer to “once saved always saved”,as “o.s.a.s.”
Many use this scripture to prove “o.s.a.s” a false teaching. However when studying in proper context,it is clear that “o.s.a.s.” is proven to be a fact of theBible.Let us take a look.
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, andof faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do,if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. .Heb 6:1-6
First,We must know Who is born again. In Romans 10 We see that the one who calls on the name of Jesus are saved.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Forwith the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.Romans 10:9-13
So We see in this scripture the ones that have called on the name of Jesus to save them, they are genuinely saved.
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened(saved), and have tasted of the heavenly gift(saved), and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,(saved)
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come(saved)
Only the born again(saved) can be enlightened, tasted of the heavenly gift(salvation)and partakers of the Holy Ghost,so We now know to whom the writer is referring, let us look at the scripture this way.
For it is impossible, if they(the saved) fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put
him to an open shame.
This scripture is not saying it is possible to lose ones salvation, but it is saying, if it were possible, one could not repent and receive forgiveness. However We knowin other scripture that one can indeed be forgiven
1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.1 John 1:8-10 .The writer was talking to the Church, not to the unsaved.
So lets use a little common sense in how We see this scripture. These verses alone prove o.s.a.s.If the back slider loses his salvation(although He doesn’t)there would be no way to gain back His salvation. If they,(the born again) shall fall away,(lose salvation) it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance;seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God again.
First ,Jesus will never be crucified again. One time was enough. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.Heb 9:27-28
For in that he died, he died unto sin once: Romans 6:10
So there are no do-overs.Christ only had to be the sacrifice one time.It was enough to cover ALL SIN,past, present, and future.
We have been washed by the blood, those of us who have believed and called on His name, are SAVED.My Father in law ,a Baptist preacher says it like this,You can’t get any saveder than saved.Bad grammar, but You get the point.

Other scripture that teaches eternal security”o.s.a.s.”for the believer.

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Eph. 1:11-14

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:  And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Eph 4:30-32

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.1 John 5:13

For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.  Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?1 John 5:4-5

These scriptures backup the teaching of o.s.a.s.There are many, more,in the word.
