Walk in a new life.

Walk in a  new life

Text:Eph. 4:17—5:2
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Eph 4:17
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour.Eph 5:2
Paul says in verse 1 that we are beloved children. 1 John 4:8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
John calls Gods love, agape . That means as beloved children we are precious, loved, desired, prayed for children of God. His love is beyond measure, nothing can take us away from Gods love.so, Paul calls on us to be like our Father.

He says:If we are going to imitators of our Heavenly Father the question comes up, what is He really like ?It’s easy for kids to act like their earthly father. And they eventually end up looking and talking like the dad!!!

So how can we as children of God act like our Heavenly Father? Read verse 32
The word kind’ means to be gentle, caring, helpful and good. It is the opposite of being bitter, judgmental and resentful
The word “tender-hearted” means to show compassion, mercy, understanding, love, tenderness, and warmth.
It means to be aware of a person’s pain and sufferings, problems & difficulties emotions and mental state, physical and spiritual condition.
It means to treat them how you would like to be treated. God treats us  how He would like to be treated and we are to imitate Him!!!
The word “forgiving” means to be gracious to a person, to pardon them for the wrong done.

When someone has hurt us or our family we want to hurt them back. But God say to forgive them and pray for them.
Until you forgiven those who have hurt you or your family, your life will be miserable.
Sure you might put it on the back burner and get it out of your mind for a while then when you least expect it; it will blaze back up again.
True peace comes from acting like our Father and NOT before. When we face adversity in our life we must ask our-self what would Jesus do!!!!!!
The reason we should forgive other’s is because God has forgiven us.
No matter how much a person has done against us, it does not come close to what we have done against God. All we see is the other persons faults—
Yet God has forgiven us. Why?
Not because we are great Christians-come to church or study the bible nor because we are obedient!
It’s For Christ’s sake. It’s only because of what Jesus did that our sins have been forgiven.
No matter what we have done, God forgives us when we ask for forgiveness, and repent.
We forget that living in Christ’s church is like living in a family. The concept of love is brought out in verse 15 and 16–read

How do we grow in love –answer is in 22-24
First what happens to a Christian when they don’t lay aside the old self???
2 Corinthians 4:4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
When we don’t do what Gods word says we are only fooling our-self and we stop believing God and His word.
You know what will blind you quicker than anything??? Greed: It can only be cured by humble reliance upon God.
The cure for evil desires is humility. Pride makes us self-centered and leads us to conclude that we deserve all we can see, touch, or imagine.
Our heart gets an appetite for more than we need. Story of man with bigger
barns. We got to realize all that we really need is Gods approval.
It is the worldly who are poor, and it is the believers who are rich. Our treasure is in heaven, and we should set our minds on the things above, not on the things that are on earth

So why is it we try so hard to become like the world and the people in it!!!When we are anointed with Holy Spirit, we see that the things of this world are only cheap substitutes for what God has to offer.
Read V-26-27 The way to prevent anger from turning into sin is dealing with the anger before the sun goes down.
The Lord is clear about the matter: we must never allow anger to take hold of us without just cause.
That gives the devil a foothold for leading us into further sin.
Then anger begins to control the believer rather than the believer controlling their anger. This can happen in any church if Satan is given the opportunity.
So how do we stop the Devil in US??? By rejecting gossip.
In our conversation we should seek to build others up, NOT tear them down.
By getting rid of the bitterness and slander in our heart we can show kindness and compassion, forgiving each other as God has forgiven us.
Paul gives 3 reasons why we must avoid bitterness. 1st it grieves the Holy Spirit
2nd our sin grieves God the Son, who died for us. 3rd it grieves God the Father who forgave us when we trusted Christ
John 15:12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
John 13:35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Christ placed His highest priority on love within the body, for He knew we could only become one through ever-deepening personal relationships.
Only through love can we the church build each other to maturity & be compelling witness to Jesus as Lord.
When others see Jesus’ love lived out in the brother-hood of faith, there is no explanation but one: God is real.
When we live the new life that comes from being like our Father, it blesses the Church by making it warn, friendly and hospitable. When people come visit our church there not interested in cold, correct theology. They are moved more by kindness, love and compassion.
Bitterness in our heart makes us treat others the way Satan treats them, when we should treat others the way God has treated us.
In His gracious kindness, God has forgiven us, and we should forgive others. Are we drawing others to Christ because we have a new life or do they just see who we use to be.And hear us talk about what they should be doing when all alone we are the ones who have heard the gospel and believe it!!!

We must be imitators of Jesus Christ. amen
