Contrary to popular belief,God the Almighty Father is not a God of unconditional love.God is a jealous God.He wants All creation to worship Him.If You could ask the inhabitants of Hell if He is a God of unconditional love ,I wonder what their answer would be ?
In these days and times it seems that people are accepting sinful ways without considering consequences. When I was a child We were taught that certain things were sin,and by the way if it was sin then,it still is today. God wants His children to love and obey Him.Just as our earthly parents expected of us.When Mom told us not to do something it was for our good,She wasn’t being mean,She just didn’t want us to get hurt,or even get into trouble. We did not always listen however, and more times than none She was right.God also warns us of the consequences of living a disobedient child, but the consequences are more serious than what Mom or Dad dished out. Sin will take us to a place where we really don’t want to be.There are numerous accounts in the Bible where Men of God rebelled, and had to pay a price for their error. Adams sin against God drove Him out of Eden.God had told Him not to eat of the tree, but He was deceived, and ate of the fruit, and in the end was driven out of the garden.God did have unconditional love toward Adam, and they were consequences to His disobedience. He now was in the real world, you could say,and He had to work by the sweat of His brow. The ground was no longer blessed, and He had to toil the soil for His living. As long as Adam was under obedience He was being blessed by God.Adam brought sin into the world. Jonah,a prophet ,was told by the Lord to go to Nineveh and preach to the people there, but He ran away from His calling and it cost Him.You know the rest of the story.
The Children of Israel were freed from Pharaohs bondage, and Moses was supposed to lead them to the promised land.Their discontentment and disobedience kept them in the wilderness for forty years, there were consequences, and none of the original ones who left Egypt made it to the promised land. Moses himself who disobeyed by striking the rock, after God told him to speak to it. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. And Moses took the rod from before the Lord, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.Numbers 20:7-12
Although Moses was chosen by God,to lead them to the promised land,He disobeyed,God did not show unconditional love towards Moses, there were consequences for disobedience. We read of
Saul,Samson,David, and many more that was chosen by God,although they loved God,when they disobeyed, there were consequences, and they had to be paid. In our modern times We often hear that We must love unconditionaly.we do love our children and other family members, but We must realize that disobedience still brings judgement, and consequences. We cannot continue in sin and not expect pay the consequence.
There is a saying”for every action there is a reaction”and this couldn’t be anymore true than in the life of a disobedient child. All sin, regardless, has a consequence. It is up to the individual in how they accept it.God gives everyone the option to obey,or not to obey.As I said earlier He is a jealous God,and expects all creation to love, and worship Him.
We have become accustom to categorize certain sins.Sin is sin in the eyes of God,there is no little sin or big sin. We are not a perfect people, but We must try to do our best when serving the Lord.We cannot accept the sin, even of our family members. We must love them, but it is in their best interest, that We warn them of the consequences.Loving unconditionaly means that We are accepting their sinful ways.
